Frequently Asked Questions

WHERE ARE THE CLASSES LOCATED?

We are based in Newcastle, and private classes will be held at Cardiff Heights. We host this cooking experience in a cosy cottage. There is a lounge area to relax as you are welcomed in and cooking stations all equiped with great quality cooking utensils and cooktop to conduct our private cooking experience.

HOW MANY IN A CLASS?

There are 6 spots in the class. We need a minimum of 4 people to be able to run a class.

Contact us on contact@threespice.com.au to book in a class with your family or friends. All you have to do is to gather 4 to 6 people to join in and we can find a date and time that is suitable.

We reserve the right to alter or cancel an event if we cannot fulfil the sufficient spots or COVID-19 restrictions. In the event of any alterations or cancellations, every effort will be made to contact and accommodate participants. In the event of a class cancellation we are happy to refund the cost of the class to you. Please note, however, that we cannot provide you with a refund of the booking fee if you purchased your ticket online.

If the class is rescheduled and you are unable to attend you will also be entitled to a full refund.

Every effort will also be made to reschedule the class within 30 days of its original date.

WHAT DO I BRING/WEAR?

  • Wear closed-in shoes during the event

  • Wear long hair tied-back

  • We recommend you wearing dark coloured clothing is best

  • Feel free to bring your own container from home in case there are yummy leftovers

  • Bring a bottle of water

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

  1. You can cancel, refund or reschedule up to 2 weeks (14 days) before a class.  After which there is a no refund/transfer/credit on cancellations.

  2. Since all food items are purchased fresh and locally sourced we need sufficient amounts of time to be informed of cancellations to run a class effectively.  We will also need to find replacements in time to fulfil a minimum amount to run a class which is 6 spots.

  3. If you have Covid-19 and in isolation please get in contact with us and we can reschedule your class. We will need a positive RAT or PCR result to process this reschedule.

CAN I BOOK FOR FRIENDS/FAMILY?

Group bookings are welcomed but when purchasing a ticket on someone else’s behalf please ensure the recipient is available on the date the class is due to occur as our cancellation policy applies.

If in doubt provide them with the link to the class and ask them to reserve and pay for the desired event date.

  3. All table top surfaces have been thoroughly sanitised and wiped down after each and every guest.

  4. Please ensure you have your double vaccinated certificates ready upon checkin.

  5. Please do not attend a cooking class in the event that you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the past 7 days, − You have been in contact with someone confirmed to have COVID-19 in the past 7 days.

  6. Please stay at home if you have cold or flu symptoms.

HOW SPICY ARE THE MEALS?

If we were to gauge the heat level in terms of 3 chillies, we would classify this dish as 11/2 out of 3 chillies. This would be medium spicy for most Australian palettes. But baby's porridge for a Malaysian.

We can alter the spice levels in the class on the day but we keep to the original recipe to provide an authentic and true Malaysian experience so you can taste the spices. When we say spices, it does not necessarily mean chillies, but all the other spices such as cinnamon cloves, star anise, pepper, cumin, fennel that make a Malaysian dish flavoursome.

We will ask on the day about your heat tolerance levels and guide you on the day on how to manage the spiciness of the dish so it is an experience everyone can enjoy. This experience is not just about whacking everything in a pot and stir, but this is a layered cooking process that makes a curry taste amazing!

WHAT IF I HAVE DIETRY REQUIREMENTS?

Please enquire as to whether a class can accommodate particular dietary requirements prior to  purchase as we’re unable to provide you with a refund/transfer/credit note after the fact.

Please also be aware that some requirements and/or allergies cannot be catered to depending on the class.

CAN I BRING WINE/BEER?

Yes, we would love you to enjoy a wine/beer with your meal.

If you are looking at a matching wine for this class, we would recommend a Riesling, Pinot Gris or Verdelho. If you prefer red wine a Shiraz or Pinot Noir would go well with your meal.

I AM A VEGETARIAN, CAN I COME?

Yes, most of our meals with meat or seafood can be swapped with vegetables or plant-base food. Contact us prior to booking to find out what we can do for you.
